Product Plans and Prices

Configure one or more pricing plans for a product.

Product Plans and Prices

One or more pricing plans should be configured in order to publish a product in the ToolSpring shop. Every plan specifies a feature set and two alternate prices - for monthly and annual subscriptions.

You may configure more than one plan. With multiple plans you can offer variations of your product with distinct feature sets.

A product's plans will be available to choose from as subscription options in the shop. See article Purchasing Products for a sample product's Pricing page in the shop.

The Product Settings page navigation menu includes >Plans and Prices to open the page for configuring plans.

Prices

Although ToolSpring is a marketplace primarily for commercial products, a product plan can be free (i.e. price equals zero dollars). A single product may combine both free and paid plans.

Note: All prices are in United States dollars. The restrictions below apply for paid plans:

  • Minimum price: $5
  • Maximum price: $10,000

Plans

ToolSpring provides a template for defining each pricing plan for a product. The plan template has fields including:

  • Prices for monthly and annual subscriptions.
  • A description.
  • Up to five features.

The section below shows a sample of the template.

Two pricing strategies are available to choose from: single-plan or multiple-plan. These alternatives provide flexibility for different pricing scenarios.

Single Plan Pricing

For a product that suits a simple pricing strategy with a single plan, the Standard plan is suitable. This plan is appropriate for a default pricing strategy, i.e. when a publisher does not offer different pricing options.

Below is a sample of the Standard plan template, in edit mode:

Standard Plan, edit mode

You may configure the template in any way that suits you except for the plan name, which cannot be changed.

When you create a product, the Standard plan is active by default and all other plans (see below) are inactive. This plan is intended for single-plan pricing and you should deactivate all other plans when using this plan.

Multiple Plan Pricing

For a product that suits different pricing scenarios, you may select any of the plans below:

  • Solo
  • Team
  • Company
  • Enterprise

As with the Standard plan, the above plan names cannot be changed. However, you may configure their templates in any way that suits you.

All plan templates share the same fields; they differ only by name.

Price Changes

You may change the monthly or annual price of a plan at any time. Note that if customers purchased subscriptions to the plan prior to the price change:

  • Automatic renewal will be disabled for those subscriptions.
  • Affected customers will be notified that their subscriptions will no longer renew automatically.

Plan Features

For any plan you may enter up to five phrases that highlight features of the plan. For example:

  • Team Plan features:
    • Standard access control
    • 24-hour support response time
  • Enterprise Plan features:
    • Role-based access control
    • 2-hour support response time

Activating and Deactivating Plans

At least one plan must be active in order to publish the product.

If you want to activate one or more plans for multiple plan pricing then you will need to deactivate the Standard plan. ToolSpring will not publish a product whose Standard plan is active at the same time as any other plan.

If you deactivate all plans for a published product, then the product will become private automatically. If you then activate any plans, the product will not be re-published automatically. In that case you can use the Publish page to re-publish the product manually; access the page via Publish on the Product Settings navigation menu.

If customers purchased subscriptions to a plan and then you deactivate the plan, then all renewals, both manual and automatic, will be disabled for those subscriptions.

Tip: When you activate or deactivate a plan, the page will reload. If you edit any plan settings, save your changes before you activate or deactivate the plan.
